Humans of Kegworth: Ms Smith from 5/6S
#Humansofkegworth

How long have you been a human of Kegworth?
I started working as a casual at Kegworth last year and fell in love with the school, that is, the staff, the students and the parents I encountered. I had planned to remain as a casual teacher all year but my heart was won over by the amazing Kegworth kids. Therefore, when Mr Toovey asked if I could cover Ms Coelho’s maternity leave in term 4 there was only one answer. I had taught 3C many times and always enjoyed their eagerness for knowledge and love of learning.
In 2023 I am now on a Stage 3 class and again, I have been blown away by these beautiful individuals; their thirst for learning and their kindness to teachers and fellow students is admirable.
What do you love most about the school?
The students at Kegworth are the beating heart of the school and are the reason Kegworth is not just ‘a school’ but a community. The teaching staff all have a real passion to teach and are reflective and collaborative in their teaching practices, which is refreshing and something I wanted to be a part of! The community at Kegworth, in the short time that I have been here, are warm, welcoming and accepting. I am humbly grateful to now be a part of this community.
Is Kegworth anything like the primary school that you went to?
My primary school was quite similar but I don’t remember it being quite so fun! I do remember that I loved school. I was a bit of a bookworm and my favourite place was the library!
What do you do with your time when you are not at Kegworth?
I have 2 children who are 12 and 11 years old and I spend time watching them play sport; basketball, cricket, dragon boating and soccer. I also enjoy going out for meals with my family and friends (my favourite foods are Thai, Sri Lankan, Indian, Italian, French, Spanish…. basically, all food!!).
I also love to travel and have been to many countries. Most recently I was living in Norfolk, England with my family for 2 years, whilst we were there we went to Poland, Italy, France, Portugal and Spain. When I am not watching kids’ sports, going out for nice food or travelling, then I am reading a good book and planning my next adventure!
