Reconciliation Week

By: Aya from the Press Gang

Coming up very soon is an extremely special day, or rather week. National Reconciliation Week. This week is all about learning more about Australia’s vast history and the history of the First Nations People. It is also about reconciling and thinking about what we can all do to help achieve reconciliation in Australia.

This important week takes place from May the 27th to June the 3rd. These dates cover two important steps towards reconciliation in Australia’s past. The successful referendum in 1967, changing laws to do with Aboriginal rights which was held on the 27th of May, and the Mabo high court decision which was held on the 3rd of June. The theme for Reconciliation Week this year is; Be brave. Make change.

So what are you going to do to help work towards reconciliation?
