Waste Free Wednesday

By Eva T

Waste Free Wednesday is a weekly program started by the sustainability committee at Kegworth Public School, who want our Wednesdays free of plastics and wasteful materials. The credit goes to these wonderful people. Waste Free Wednesday is where you bring as little single use materials as possible and to save the environment from pollution and wiping out endangered animal species. Here are some examples of materials you could bring to school instead of single use ones:

brown wooden fork, spoon, and knife on textile

  • Beeswax wraps
  • Reusable food containers
  • Refillable water bottles
  • Stainless steel or bamboo straws
  • Reusable cutlery sets

brown wooden sticks in gray ceramic bowl

Those are just some examples of what to bring for Waste Free Wednesdays along with many more sustainable ways to ban Single use items. We should all try to avoid using single use items even when it is not Waste Free Wednesday so it becomes a good habit for Kegworth.
