Stewart House: Why You Should Donate

By Isla, Year 6, Editor

As you may or may not know, I am an SRC, and last Friday (that’s Friday 14 May, 2021) we were talking about Stewart House. So, me being me, I decided to get the community involved. But first, What is Stewart House?

Stewart House is a Donation-based foundation designed to help children in need. Every year, over 1700 kids attend Stewart House, and stay for 10-12 days. Whilst they are there, they receive Dental, Optical and medical care, and have access to education and facilities that they would not usually be able to access.

Stewart House also has a variety of excursions and activities for the children to do, and everyone is treated fairly. Most people invited to Stewart House don’t have as much money as us, or are struggling with other illnesses, so Stewart House gives them a chance to experience things that they wouldn’t usually get to do.

As I mentioned before, Stewart House is run completely by Donations and a small amount of government funding, which is why they need our support. Even if you only give a few dollars, you can help fund one of the best organisations there is, and give children a chance to experience all of these amazing things.

To donate to Stewart House, all you need to do is go to this website (https://www.stewarthouse.org.au) or search up Stewart House and find the link. If you scroll just a tiny bit down from the top, you will see a button that says ‘donate’ and the rest is pretty self-explanatory (although you may want an adult to help you with it, as I doubt any child reading this has a credit card).

This is something that we can easily do, and by donating you are giving disadvantaged children a chance to do something that they enjoy.
