Sarah’s Scones – YUM

SCONES

Difficulty level: 2/

Warm fluffy scones are my go to food for a Sunday morning when you feel like sleeping in.

Adult supervision: Yes (You will need an adult to help you with the oven).

You will need…

3 cups Flour                               Measuring devices

3 teaspoons baking powder       A large mixing bowl

1-¼  cup milk                              A oven tray (this does not need baking paper on it)

60g Butter (at room temperature and cut into little squares of about 1cm by 1cm)

Step one…

Preheat your oven to 200c degrees. Take out your mixing bowl, measuring cup and oven tray.

Step two…

Combine your flour, baking powder and butter (cut into small pieces) in a large mixing bowl. Rub the butter into the flour by squeezing the butter in between your fingers until the flour becomes a bread crumb consistency.

Step three…

Now it is time to add the milk to your mixture and mix it in with a flat bladed knife. You might find that you need more milk. If this is so, then add more milk tablespoon by tablespoon.

Step four…

Divide your dough into two pieces (do not knead it too much or it will become tough) and roll them both into a log shape. Cut each of your logs into 10 pieces. Then place them onto your baking tray and place in your oven for 20 to 25 mins or until golden and puffed up.

Step five…

Once your scones are cooked pull them out and serve hot with jam and cream.

Quick Tip: Store your scones in an airtight container for safekeeping.
