Ever since the Early Settler Furniture store closed down earlier this year, rumours have been flying around about what type of shop would open in it’s place. We heard that a juice bar was coming! Then a few weeks later, we heard that a luxury pet food shop was opening.
Then the signs went up! Unique Wholefood are coming to Leichhardt!
But who are they and what can we expect from the new store?
We went in to chat to owner Bishnu!
Bishnu has been in the wholefood business for more than ten years and wants to bring his expertise to Leichhardt.
Although the store isn’t ready to open it already looks very different inside. There is a new ceiling and air conditioning and lots of light.
Bishnu says that the store are committed to sustainability and have committed to not adding any plastic to fresh produce. They will also have paper bags and offer a borrow bag scheme for people who forget to bring a shopping bag.
The store will offer a wide range of whole foods – we’re talking plant based, organic and gluten free. On top of all this Unique Wholefood will stock eco friendly cleaning products.
Bishnu also told us that there will be a naturopath clinic at the back of the store.
At the moment there isn’t an official opening date but Bishnu let slip that he is expecting doors to open for business sometime in October.
