Have you heard that Kegworth is holding a Bunnings BBQ on Sunday 17 November? Here are five excellent reasons to sign up!
1. Improve your BBQ Skills
Look, most Aussies are pretty flash when it comes to throwing a few snags on the barbie. But how do your BBQ skills hold up under pressure? Taking part in a Bunnings BBQ will have you turning sausages with lightening speed and pin point accuracy. You’ll become legendary among your mates, you’ll no longer be a mere dab hand. You’ll be a BBQ guru.
2. Make new friends
Hey, don’t knock it. It’s hard to make friends when you’re a grown up. Volunteering at a school fundraiser, even if it’s just for a few hours, gives you a chance to get to know other Kegworth parents. And while you might not come away with a new BFF, you might have a new mate to talk to at school pick up. And that is a beautiful thing.
3. Give yourself a good excuse to visit Bunnings
Who doesn’t love a weekend trip to Bunnings?! Summer is coming (yay!) and Bunnings has all the stuff you need to spruce up the back yard. Get yourself on the volunteering list and you’ll have an extra excuse for some totally zen Bunnings time.
4. Experience that volunteering feel good factor
If only we could bottle the volunteering-feel-good-factor! (seriously! we could flog it for $50 a pop!!). There is actual scientific* research to show that volunteering makes you feel good. Revel in the joy of knowing you’ve dedicated your time for a good cause.
5. Help raise funds for Kegworth
The sad truth is that public schools rely on the efforts of P&C fundraisers. Kegworth is an awesome school – we want to keep it that way!
If we’ve convinced you, you can sign up here. Don’t worry if you can’t make it, there are plenty of other ways to volunteer. Email the P&C at firstname.lastname@example.org to find out more.
*Ok, maybe not scientific exactly, but still…
